Galanty Privacy Policy
Effective date: 2026-10-07 Last updated: 2026-10-07
The short version
- Galanty processes your text, documents and videos on your Mac. We, the developer, never receive your projects, text, assets or exported videos, and we do not use them to train any model.
- The app has no ads and no third-party analytics or crash-reporting tools. "Local usage counters" and "crash records" are off by default; if you turn them on, they stay on your computer and are never uploaded.
- Galanty connects to the internet only in the cases listed in section 3. The most important one: if you choose an AI assistant or API to write your storyboard, your text is sent to the service you chose. If you'd rather not, paste a finished storyboard and no AI is called at all.
1. Who is responsible
The developer of Galanty (an individual developer based in mainland China), providing the Software under the Galanty (文影) brand ("we", "us"), is the controller of the personal information described in this policy. Contact: support@galanty.cn.
2. What stays on your computer
The following is processed and stored on your computer, and we never receive it:
- documents you import, text you type, and the text extracted from them;
- storyboards, scene code, images and video assets, music, narration audio and exported videos;
- settings, the narration cache and project files.
Projects are saved by default in a Galanty workspace inside your Documents folder; settings and caches are kept in the app data folder. Deleting those folders deletes the data. Uninstalling the app does not delete your projects automatically.
To manage the export quota, the app also keeps a few records on your computer: export counts and times, this month's free exports, counts of purchase-related events (for example, "purchase prompt shown"), and a device identifier made by one-way hashing your Mac's hardware identifier, used only for local quota tracking. These records contain no text, file names or paths, and are never uploaded.
3. When Galanty goes online
| Case | When | Sent to | What is sent | Your control |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Storyboard writing | When you choose an AI assistant or API to write it | The service you chose: Codex (usually OpenAI), Claude Code (Anthropic), Gemini CLI (Google), or the API address you entered | Extracted text, your instructions, the storyboard format description | Paste a storyboard instead and no AI is called. Retention depends on that service and your account settings |
| AI assistant edits | When you let your own assistant edit a project, for example over MCP | Your assistant and its model provider | The storyboard, scene code and instructions your assistant reads | Up to you and your assistant |
| Video review (off by default) | After you turn it on in settings | The AI assistant you signed in to | Sampled frames, narration, scene code | Leave it off and nothing is sent |
| Compatible speech service | When the narration engine is set to "compatible speech service" with a non-local address | The address you entered | Narration sentences and voice/model parameters (never the whole document) | System voices and on-device neural voices stay offline |
| Custom narration command | When you configure your own program | Up to that program | Up to that program | Run only programs you trust |
| Optional component downloads | When you confirm installing on-device voice models or similar components | The component source, such as Hugging Face, GitHub, the Python Package Index (PyPI) or Homebrew | An ordinary download request (IP address, time, etc.), never your documents | Don't install, and no connection is made |
| Update checks and installs | Checked automatically by the Mac App Store per your system settings | Apple (Mac App Store) | An ordinary update check/download request | Manage automatic updates in System Settings or the App Store app |
| Purchase and Pro entitlement checks | On purchase, restore purchase, and whenever the system verifies your entitlement afterwards | Apple (Mac App Store / in-app purchase) | Handled by Apple's in-app purchase flow; we never see your payment information | Nothing happens unless you purchase. The free tier needs no connection |
| Signing in to an AI assistant | When you click "Sign in" | That assistant's provider | Handled by the assistant's own sign-in flow; Galanty never touches your password or tokens | — |
Also note:
- Galanty itself never downloads assets from web addresses. A source URL you enter when importing an asset is only saved as a note on your computer. If you ask an AI assistant to find assets online, the assistant does the downloading.
- Scene code renders in an isolated local environment with network access blocked.
- The local workbench service listens only on your own machine; other devices on your network cannot reach it.
- Galanty never sends your device identifier or purchase information to the AI or speech services you choose.
4. Personal information we receive
Purchase information. Your purchase is made through the Mac App Store, and Apple collects and processes your payment information; we never see your name, email, card number or other payment details. From the sales and subscription reports Apple provides to developers, we only see aggregated or anonymized data (for example, how many units of a product were purchased or renewed), unless you write to us directly.
Emails you send us. Your email address and whatever you include, used to answer questions and provide support.
Our website. The website uses no cookies, analytics scripts or third-party fonts. The website host (Cloudflare Pages, Cloudflare, Inc.) may keep access logs, such as IP addresses and times, under its own policy.
We do not sell personal information, use it for advertising, or build profiles.
5. Purposes and legal bases
| Purpose | Legal basis |
|---|---|
| Answering support questions related to your purchase or subscription | Performance of our contract with you |
| Preventing abuse, keeping the service secure | Our legitimate interests |
| Meeting tax, accounting and other legal obligations | Legal obligation |
| Optional features you turn on (local counters, crash records) | Your consent, which you can withdraw at any time |
6. How long we keep it
- Order and subscription information is kept by Apple under its policy and tax law.
- Support emails we receive are normally kept for 3 years after your last contact, unless the law requires longer.
- Data on your computer is kept for as long as you choose.
7. International processing
We are based in mainland China. Apple may process information related to your purchase in the United States, the EU, the UK or elsewhere. We answer emails from mainland China, and our email provider (Cloudflare Email Routing, Cloudflare, Inc.) may store messages in other countries. We process only what these purposes require and apply reasonable security measures.
8. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct or delete your personal information, to restrict or object to its processing, to receive a copy, to withdraw consent, and to complain to your local data protection authority. Write to support@galanty.cn and we will reply within 30 days.
Because we never receive your projects, you delete them simply by deleting the folders on your computer. Content you have already sent to a third-party service (such as the AI assistant you chose) must be deleted through that service; requests about purchase-related information should go through Apple's own channels.
9. Children
Galanty is not directed at children under 14 (under 13 in the United States). We do not knowingly collect children's personal information; if you believe we have, contact us and we will delete it.
10. Security
Your purchase and Pro entitlement are managed and verified by Apple's Mac App Store system; local quota records carry integrity checks against accidental changes; our communication with external services uses HTTPS. No system is perfectly secure; if you find a security issue, please tell us.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy and will post the new version with its effective date on our website. If a change would expand the information we collect, we will give advance notice on the website or in the app.
